Last Updated on: March 26th, 2024

“Indian War Canoes” was a former attraction at Disneyland in California. It operated from 1956 to 1971.

Indian War Canoes offered guests the opportunity to take part in a unique water-based experience. Guests would board large canoes modeled after Native American war canoes and paddle together as a team. The attraction allowed guests to enjoy a scenic and leisurely journey along the Rivers of America, which encircle Tom Sawyer Island in Frontierland.

The canoes were guided by experienced Cast Members who provided instructions and helped guests navigate the waters. It was a physical activity that required guest participation, making it an interactive and engaging experience for those who wanted to be part of the adventure.

I have since returned to the magical place more than 20 times. I started this site when I came to the realization that I spent a significant portion of my day reading articles about Disney and watching Disney content with my 8-year old, so it made sense that I would start sharing some of what I read and see and building a little community around it.
