About Luigi's Flying Tires

Luigi’s Flying Tires was a whimsical attraction located in Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The ride was part of the Cars Land area of the park and allowed guests to experience a unique and fun-filled flying adventure.

Inspired by Disney-Pixar’s “Cars” film franchise, Luigi’s Flying Tires was themed as Luigi’s Casa Della Tires, an Italian tire shop owned by the character Luigi. The ride featured large, inflatable tire-shaped vehicles that resembled bumper cars, but with a twist.

Guests would board these flying tires, and by leaning in different directions, they could control the movement and direction of the tire. The ride surface was a giant air cushion, and air would be continuously pumped underneath the tires, allowing them to glide and float across the surface.

The goal of the attraction was to navigate around the ride area, bumping into other tires and enjoying a whimsical, floating dance with other riders. The experience was meant to evoke a sense of playful chaos and fun as guests tried to steer their tires.

Luigi’s Flying Tires was known for its lighthearted and carefree atmosphere, making it a favorite for families and those looking for a less intense ride experience within Disney California Adventure Park.

While the attraction was beloved by many, it had its technical challenges and was eventually closed in 2015. It was replaced by a new attraction called Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, which continues to offer a joyful and music-filled ride experience in the same Cars Land location.

Although Luigi’s Flying Tires is no longer part of the Disneyland experience, it is fondly remembered by those who enjoyed its whimsical charm and unique ride concept during its time at the park.
