Disney Executive Wins Prestigious California Volunteering Award

Disney announced yesterday that Karen Kawanami, the company’s Director of Enterprise Social Responsibility Programs, along with the Disneyland Resort, have been honored for their Volunteerism and Community Service.

Kawanami, who has been with Disney for 30 years, and is the manager of the company’s popular VoluntEARS program, is the recipient of the 2018 California Governor’s Volunteering ans Service Awards Hoffman Prize.  According to the organization’s website, the Hoffman Prize “recognizes an exceptional California business executive who demonstrates outstanding and impactful work fostering volunteerism in his or her local community, the State of California, the nation, and the globe.”

Additionally, the Disneyland Resort is the recipient of the California Business Volunteer Program of the Year from the organization in recognition of the work done by the VoluntEARS program.

Kawanami and Disneyland were presented were presented with the prestigious awards earlier today in a ceremony at the California State Capitol.
