For the second year in a row, Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger, has been named by The Hollywood Reporter (THR) as the most Powerful Person in Entertainment. The distinction comes as he retains his top spot on the annual “THR 100” list.
According to THR, the list has “one overarching criterion: the power of “yes.” THR 100 essentially is a greenlight list: who has the authority to take projects from a no to a yes or the talent and track record to make what he or she wants.”
In giving Iger this distinction, THR points to the record $7.6 billion that Disney earned at the box office in 2016. It also lists the American Idol reboot project as Disney’s “Big Bet.”
