Could ESPN Sell Off FiveThirtyEight?

fivethirtyeight espnVariety is reporting that ESPN is exploring the possibility of selling or spinning off Fivethirtyeight, the popular analytical website created and edited by statistician Nate Silver.

For those of you that don’t know, Fivethirtyeight was launched by Nate Silver in 2008 to focus on polling and analyzing data relating to politics, sports and other topical verticals. Its name comes from the number of members of the US electoral college (538). Fivethirtyeight was purchased by ESPN in 2013 with Silver staying on as editor.
