Visitors to Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom are going to be welcomed with a very noticeable change to the park’s security setup starting today. Disney has moved the large bottleneck security checkpoint from the park’s immediate entrance to a number of smaller checkpoints further out to the resort monorail entrances, bus drop-off area and the TTC.

Making this change moves the monorail, ferry and a larger chunk of the resort area around the Magic Kingdom into a checked, protected zone. It also, presumably, is being done to remove a large gathering of unchecked visitors from the entrance, which makes entering the park more enjoyable, and also eliminates an obvious soft target for trouble-makers.

Our friends over at The Disney Blog give a thorough and easily understandable rundown of the new Magic Kingdom security setup. If you are planning on a Disney World visit in the future, you will want to read this. It is going to be pretty different from what we are used to.
