Who is Prince Achmed?

Prince Achmed is a minor character in Disney’s animated classic Aladdin (1992). He is one of the suitors vying for Princess Jasmine’s hand in marriage but quickly becomes memorable due to his arrogant and pompous personality.

Achmed presents himself as entitled, dismissive of commoners, and is clearly motivated by his royal status rather than genuine affection for Jasmine. When she rejects him, he lashes out at the people of Agrabah, even insulting Aladdin, whom he views as a “riff-raff.”

Though Prince Achmed has a brief role in Aladdin, he embodies the arrogant, traditional suitors that Princess Jasmine finds so distasteful, further underscoring her desire to marry for love rather than social standing. In the 1992 animated film, Prince Achmed is voiced by Corey Burton, a talented voice actor known for his work in various Disney projects, as well as animated shows and films outside the Disney universe.
