Shadow is a character in the 1993 film “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey” and its 1996 sequel “Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco.” He is a Golden Retriever owned by a family that lives in the countryside, and is one of the three main animal characters in the films.

In the first film, Shadow, along with an American Bulldog named Chance and a Himalayan cat named Sassy, embark on a journey through the wilderness to try and find their way back home after becoming separated from their owners. Shadow is depicted as the wise and loyal leader of the group, who often reassures the others and provides guidance in difficult situations. He is also known for his famous line, “Don’t worry, Peter. I know the way home.”

In the sequel, Shadow, Chance, and Sassy are taken in by a family in San Francisco, and get into various adventures and mishaps while trying to adapt to their new surroundings.

Shadow is portrayed by several different dogs in the films, but his main actor is a Golden Retriever named Ben. The character’s voice is provided by actor Don Ameche.
