The Sheriff of Nottingham is a character in Disney’s “Robin Hood.” He is the main antagonist of the film and is depicted as a greedy, corrupt, and power-hungry individual who serves as the right-hand man of Prince John. Throughout the film, the Sheriff of Nottingham is depicted as being determined to capture Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men in order to maintain his hold on the kingdom and to protect Prince John’s interests. Despite his villainous ways, however, the Sheriff of Nottingham is also depicted as being a comedic character, and his over-the-top antics and exaggerated expressions provide much of the film’s humor. Despite his role as the main villain, the Sheriff of Nottingham remains a beloved and well-regarded character among fans of “Robin Hood,” and is remembered for his bumbling demeanor, his iconic mustache, and his memorable lines. He was voiced by actor Pat Buttram.
