Who is Alpha?

Alpha is a character from Disney-Pixar’s animated film Up. He is the leader of a pack of dogs belonging to Charles Muntz, the film’s main antagonist.

Alpha is a Doberman Pinscher and is characterized as a fierce, loyal, and somewhat intimidating figure among the dogs. However, despite his menacing appearance, Alpha’s authoritative presence is undermined by a comedic aspect—his voice. Due to a malfunction in his voice translator collar, his voice comes out in a high-pitched, squeaky tone, making for a humorous contrast to his otherwise imposing nature.

Alpha was voiced by Bob Peterson, a Pixar writer and director who also provided the voice for Dug, the lovable golden retriever in Up. Peterson’s portrayal of Alpha with a high-pitched, squeaky voice adds a layer of comedy to the character, making him memorable as both a leader and a source of comic relief in the film.
