Walt Disney World is a theme park resort complex in Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista, Florida, near Orlando. The resort is the flagship destination of Disney’s worldwide corporate enterprise and has four theme parks, two water parks, twenty-seven themed resort hotels, nine non-Disney hotels, several golf courses, a camping resort, and other entertainment venues, including the outdoor shopping center Disney Springs. The complex opened on October 1, 1971, as the Walt Disney World Resort, and it was the first Disney theme park to be built outside California. It was originally known as Walt Disney World Resort and later Disney World, it was renamed Walt Disney World in 2020. It is the most visited vacation resort in the world.
