Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios | Everything You Need to Know

Last Updated on: February 23rd, 2022

Undoubtedly the most highly-anticipated addition to Walt Disney World in 2018 is the new Toy Story Land section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Here is a rundown of what visitors to Toy Story Land can expect:

When Did Toy Story Land Open?

Toy Story Land opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on June 30, 2018.

Toy Story Land Theming:

The new park area will resemble a larger-than-life replica of Andy’s backyard. It features plenty of nostalgia and Toy Story memories.

According to Disney,  “the entire land will serve as a visual celebration of toys, with Crayons, Cooties, Green Army Men, Rubik’s Cubes, Tinkertoys, and other familiar toys and game pieces incorporated into the land’s design.”

Toy Story Land Rides:

In addition to the existing (and super-popular) Toy Story Mania ride, which will be incorporated into the new land, there will be two new rides opening in June: Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers.

Slinky Dog Dash is a family-friendly roller coaster ride that will stretch the span of the new land. It features twists and turns and an amazing amount of Toy Story theming. Here is a quick glimpse at what you can expect from this new ride:

Alien Swirling Saucers is spinning ride, seemingly similar to a tea cup type of ride only you sit in a flying saucer.

It is worth noting that both of the new Toy Story Land rides will have height requirements to ride. Riders of the Slinky Dog Coaster will need to be at least 38″ tall and riders of Alien Swirling Saucers will need to be at least 32″ tall. Toy Story Mania does not currently have a height requirement.

Toy Story Land Restaurant:

Toy Story Land will feature a new spot to grab a quick bite. Woody’s Lunch Box is a walk-up window-style restaurant themed to resemble Andy’s lunch box tipped on its side. The restaurant will feature “classic American fare, old-fashioned soda floats and other Toy Story-themed specialties.”

Character Meet and Greets:

  • Green Army Men: According to Disney, Sarge and the Green Army Man Drum Corps will be marching several times a day through Toy Story Land. As the Drum Corps marches on, everyone’s invited to follow another contingent of Green Army Men to their fun and interactive boot camp, where they’ll “toy” with guests using giant Pixar balls, oversized crayons and a game of SARGE SAYS (their own spin on Simon Says).
  • Wheezy: Although not a meet and greet, there is going to be a fun new audio-animatronic of Wheezy the squeaky penguin toy at the end of the Slinky Dog Dash ride. He will be singing “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” in a scene that will also feature Mike the tape recorder and Mr. Spell.
  • Woody, Buzz and Jessie: The new land would not be complete without arguably the three most recognizable Toy Story characters. Woody, Buzz and Jessie will be greeting guests throughout the new land daily. One can presume that they will be relocated from their current Magic Kingdom homes for this more appropriate spot.

Area Maps:

Disney has officially released the new Disney Hollywood Studios map featuring Toy Story Land. That map, along with all Disney World maps, can be found here.

So that is everything we currently know about Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As always, I will be adding updates here as any new details emerge, so be sure to subscribe and stay tuned!
