Who is Chance?
Chance is a character in the 1993 film “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey” and its 1996 sequel “Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco.” He is an American Bulldog owned by a family that lives in the countryside, and is one of the three main animal characters in the films.
In the first film, Chance, along with a Golden Retriever named Shadow and a Himalayan cat named Sassy, embark on a journey through the wilderness to try and find their way back home after becoming separated from their owners. Chance is depicted as the energetic and mischievous member of the group, often getting into trouble and causing headaches for the others. Despite his rambunctious nature, he cares deeply for his friends and is willing to put himself in danger to protect them.
In the sequel, Chance, Shadow, and Sassy are taken in by a family in San Francisco, and get into various adventures and mishaps while trying to adapt to their new surroundings.
Chance is portrayed by several different dogs in the films, but his main actor is an American Bulldog named Rattler. The character’s voice is provided by actor Michael J. Fox.
