Who is Clod?
Clod is a young character from the 2023 Disney/Pixar animated film “Elemental” who embodies the Earth element. He is depicted as having a crush on his neighbor, Ember, although his attempts to win her over are repeatedly thwarted. Despite this, they maintain a friendly relationship and Clod is known for his helpful nature within his community. Clod is voiced by Mason Wertheimer, making “Elemental” one of the young actor’s first substantial roles.
Described as a street-smart earth kid, Clod exhibits a lovesick demeanor towards Ember throughout the movie, often flirting with her and at one point, attempting to give her a flower he grew from his armpits. However, by the end of the film, when Ember starts dating Wade Ripple, Clod appears to have moved on from his crush.
He resides in Firetown and tends to show up whenever Ember is around, not hiding his sweet crush on her. Despite his young age, Clod believes he can match Ember’s maturity. Clod’s character is also noted for his caring and gentle heart, making him a likable figure in the narrative.
Unique to Clod’s character design as an Earth element, he is the only known resident of Element City to wear footwear, and the only known non-fire element to live in Fire Town. His head and nose are notably shaped like hearts, reflecting his crush on Ember, which is a creative touch by the character designers to emphasize his feelings towards her.
