Who is Darby O’Gill?
Darby O’Gill is a fictional character from the Disney live-action film “Darby O’Gill and the Little People” (1959). He is the titular character of the story and is an old Irishman who lives in a small village in Ireland. He is a friendly and hardworking man who is well-known for his tales of leprechauns and fairies who live in the nearby hills. He is the father of Michael McBride, the new caretaker of Lord Fitzpatrick’s estate and is initially skeptical of Darby’s stories about the little people, but eventually comes to believe in them and even befriends the leprechaun king, Brian Connors. The character was played by Albert Sharpe.
