Who is Edna Mode?
Edna Mode is a beloved character from Pixar’s The Incredibles and Incredibles 2. Known for her fierce personality and exceptional talent in fashion design, Edna is the exclusive costume designer for superheroes, crafting outfits that balance style with practicality and, most importantly, durability.
With a disdain for “capes” after witnessing the unfortunate accidents of several heroes, Edna creates costumes tailored to withstand the unique abilities and challenges of each superhero. Her catchphrases and witty one-liners make her a fan favorite, bringing humor and wisdom to her interactions, especially with the Parr family, whom she assists throughout both films.
Edna Mode is voiced by Brad Bird, who also directed The Incredibles and its sequel. Interestingly, Bird didn’t initially plan to voice Edna himself. However, during early readings, he filled in as a temporary voice and impressed the team with his portrayal, leading to him becoming Edna’s official voice actor. Bird’s unique interpretation of Edna’s accent and distinct cadence gives her character a memorable and quirky edge, blending elements of different international accents.
