Who is Hamster?

In the animated series Hamster & Gretel, Hamster is the pet of 9-year-old Gretel Grant-Gomez. After an encounter with aliens, both Hamster and Gretel are endowed with superpowers and tasked with using them for good. Unlike Gretel’s energetic nature, Hamster is characterized by his stoic demeanor and maturity. Although granted the ability to speak, he often remains silent, choosing to communicate primarily through subtle expressions and occasional, dry-witted remarks. This contrasts with Gretel’s exuberance, highlighting his role as the more composed member of the duo.

Hamster’s superhero identity is kept secret from most, including Gretel’s parents, Dave and Carolina. However, a select few, such as Gretel’s older brother Kevin, their cousin Fred, their grandmother Carmen Gomez, and Gretel’s best friend Bailey, are aware of his dual life. In their crime-fighting endeavors, Hamster’s level-headedness and quick thinking often complement Gretel’s enthusiasm, making them an effective team against various villains threatening their city.

The character of Hamster is voiced by Beck Bennett, known for his work on Saturday Night Live and as the voice of Launchpad McQuack in the 2017 reboot of DuckTales.
