Jake Long (American Dragon: Jake Long)Who is Jake Long?

Jake Long, the protagonist of Disney’s animated series “American Dragon: Jake Long,” is a Chinese-American teenager living in New York City.

At 13 years old in Season 1 and 14 in Season 2, Jake appears to be an ordinary adolescent balancing school, skateboarding, and friendships. However, he possesses the extraordinary ability to transform into a dragon, a legacy inherited from his maternal lineage. As the designated American Dragon, Jake’s primary responsibility is to protect the magical creatures secretly residing in the United States, particularly within New York’s hidden magical community.

Under the guidance of his grandfather, Lao Shi, and his 600-year-old canine guardian, Fu Dog, Jake hones his dragon abilities to fulfill his duties. Despite the weight of his responsibilities, he maintains a laid-back, confident demeanor, often speaking in rapper slang and showcasing a keen interest in extreme sports and video games.

Throughout the series, Jake navigates typical teenage challenges, including his crush on schoolmate Rose, who unbeknownst to him, is part of the Huntsclan, a group dedicated to hunting magical creatures. This complex relationship adds depth to his character as he strives to balance his dual life. Jake Long is voiced by Dante Basco, known for his dynamic voice acting and portrayal of youthful, energetic characters.
