Who is Rico?

Rico is a supporting character in Disney’s animated film Home on the Range (2004). He is a skilled and stoic bounty hunter known for his imposing demeanor and reputation for capturing fugitives.

Dressed in a black outfit with a wide-brimmed hat, Rico is the epitome of the classic Western gunslinger archetype. He is hired to track down the film’s villain, Alameda Slim, a notorious cattle rustler with a hypnotic yodeling ability.

Initially portrayed as a no-nonsense and capable bounty hunter, Rico’s true nature takes a surprising turn when it’s revealed he is secretly working for Slim. This betrayal complicates the mission of the three heroine cows—Maggie, Grace, and Mrs. Calloway—who are trying to save their farm by capturing Slim themselves. Rico’s betrayal adds a layer of suspense and highlights the film’s theme of courage and perseverance in the face of deceit.

Rico is voiced by actor Charles Dennis, whose deep and commanding voice brings gravitas to the character. Dennis is known for his work as a writer, director, and actor in various television series and films.
