Who is Tyler Nguyen-Baker?

Tyler Nguyen-Baker is a character from Disney and Pixar’s 2022 animated film Turning Red.

Set in Toronto in 2002, the film follows Mei Lee, a 13-year-old girl who discovers she transforms into a giant red panda whenever she experiences strong emotions, a phenomenon linked to her family’s mystical heritage.

Tyler is initially portrayed as one of Mei’s school antagonists. He teases and mocks her and her friends, often acting as a class clown with a brash and cocky attitude. However, as the story progresses, Tyler reveals a more vulnerable and complex side. It turns out he is a fan of the boy band 4*Town, just like Mei and her friends.
