Who is Apollo?

Apollo is a minor character in Disney’s animated movie Hercules (1997). He is one of the Olympian gods, known as the god of the sun, music, prophecy, and archery in Greek mythology.

In the film, Apollo is depicted as a muscular, golden-skinned deity who drives his sun chariot across the sky, a nod to the mythological portrayal of Apollo as the sun god.

While Apollo doesn’t have a major role in the story, he appears briefly alongside other Olympian gods like Zeus, Hera, and Hades during scenes set on Mount Olympus. His character is part of the larger ensemble of gods who watch over the events of Hercules’ life.

Apollo is voiced by actor Keith David in the film, who is known for his deep, resonant voice and has voiced numerous characters in both animation and live-action projects, making his brief portrayal of Apollo memorable despite the character’s limited screen time. Keith David is also known for other prominent roles, such as Goliath in Gargoyles and Dr. Facilier in The Princess and the Frog.
