Who is Captain Armando Salazar?
Captain Armando Salazar is a fictional character in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, portrayed by Spanish actor Javier Bardem. He appears in the fifth installment of the franchise, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” (2017).
Salazar is a Spanish Navy captain who becomes cursed after being betrayed by a young Jack Sparrow. He and his crew become undead ghost pirates, capable of controlling and destroying any ship they come across. Salazar seeks revenge on Jack Sparrow, and will stop at nothing to get it.
Salazar is portrayed as a fierce and ruthless villain, feared by all who cross his path. He is depicted as having a heavily scarred face, giving him a menacing appearance. Salazar’s goal throughout the film is to hunt down and kill Jack Sparrow, which puts him in conflict with the other main characters, including Henry Turner and Carina Smyth.
