Who is Catty the Elephant?
Catty the Elephant is a character from Disney’s classic animated film Dumbo (1941). She is one of the female elephants in the circus who interacts with Dumbo and his mother, Mrs. Jumbo.
Alongside other elephants, Catty initially plays a gossipy, critical role, as she and the others distance themselves from Dumbo due to his unusually large ears. This judgmental attitude is part of the emotional adversity Dumbo faces, which eventually leads him to embrace his unique abilities.
In the original Dumbo film, Catty the Elephant was voiced by Dorothy Scott. Her role, although relatively minor, contributes to the film’s themes of acceptance, resilience, and the impact of peer judgment.
