Who is Cedric the Sorcerer?

Cedric the Sorcerer is a recurring character and one of the primary antagonists in Disney’s animated series Sofia the First. He serves as the Royal Sorcerer for the kingdom of Enchancia, where Princess Sofia lives.

Despite his position, Cedric is often portrayed as a bumbling, somewhat inept sorcerer whose spells frequently backfire. His main goal throughout the series is to steal Sofia’s magical amulet, the Amulet of Avalor, which grants her special powers and occasionally summons princesses to help her. Cedric believes that gaining control of the amulet will help him seize power and become a famous sorcerer.

Though Cedric is initially depicted as a villain, his character is more complex than a typical antagonist. He has a soft spot for Sofia, and their interactions evolve into a genuine friendship, highlighting Cedric’s inner conflict between his ambition and his caring nature.
