Who is Chum?
Chum is a character in Pixar’s animated film Finding Nemo. He is a mako shark and one of the members of the “Fish-Friendly Sharks” support group, whose motto is “Fish are friends, not food.”
Despite his natural instincts, Chum, like the other sharks in the group, is trying to give up eating fish to pursue a “vegetarian” lifestyle. However, he struggles with this commitment and sometimes lapses into his predatory tendencies.
Chum has a lively, almost hyper personality and brings comic relief to the story, especially during the support group scenes. His character helps convey the movie’s theme of friendship and understanding, even among species that would typically be at odds.
In Finding Nemo, Chum is voiced by actor Bruce Spence, who brings energy and humor to the character with his distinct voice, making Chum one of the memorable supporting characters in the film.
