Who is Clio?
Clio is one of the Muses in Disney’s animated film Hercules (1997). The Muses are a group of five goddesses who serve as narrators and storytellers, bringing Greek mythology to life with vibrant, gospel-inspired musical numbers. Each Muse represents a different aspect of the arts and creativity, and Clio is the Muse of History.
Clio is known for her cheerful personality, playful demeanor, and distinctive look, often depicted with short, curly hair and an energetic attitude. As the Muse of History, she helps guide the story by recounting the legends of Greek heroes, especially Hercules, and celebrates his achievements in song.
In the film, Clio is voiced by the actress and singer Vanéese Y. Thomas. Thomas, who comes from a musical family, brings a powerful vocal presence to Clio’s role, contributing to the film’s memorable soundtrack with songs like “The Gospel Truth.”
