Who is Clotho?

Clotho is one of the three Fates in Disney’s Hercules, released in 1997. Based on Greek mythology, the Fates—Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos—are sisters who control the destinies of both mortals and gods.

In the film, Clotho is depicted as the Fate who spins the thread of life, starting each person’s life journey. The three Fates collectively have a humorous yet ominous presence, as they foretell the rise and fall of heroes, including Hercules, and oversee the lives of everyone in the world. Their scenes are often filled with dark comedy, as they have a quirky dynamic with each other and share a single eye to see the future.
