Who is Constable Jones?
Constable Jones is a minor but memorable character in Mary Poppins, the classic 1964 Disney musical film. He is a friendly, somewhat bumbling London police constable who encounters the Banks children, Jane and Michael, when they run away from their nanny.
Constable Jones escorts the children back home to Cherry Tree Lane and, in the process, provides a touch of humor and warmth to the story. His character reflects the neighborly and communal spirit of the neighborhood around the Banks family’s home.
In the original Mary Poppins film, Constable Jones is portrayed by actor Arthur Treacher.
