Who is Cookie?

Jebidiah Allardyce “Cookie” Farnsworth is a character from Disney’s 2001 animated film Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

Serving as the expedition’s cook, Cookie is portrayed as a grizzled, old-fashioned chef with a penchant for traditional, hearty fare. His culinary philosophy humorously revolves around four basic food groups: beans, bacon, whiskey, and lard. Despite his rough exterior and questionable cooking skills, Cookie is a loyal and endearing member of the team, providing comic relief throughout the adventure.

The character was voiced by Jim Varney, known for his role as Ernest P. Worrell in the Ernest film series. Tragically, Varney passed away from lung cancer in February 2000, before completing all of Cookie’s dialogue for the film. To finish the character’s lines, voice actor Steven Barr stepped in to provide the remaining dialogue. Varney’s contribution to the film was honored with a dedication in his memory.
