Who is Disgust?
Disgust is one of the main characters in Pixar’s animated film Inside Out. She is one of the five core emotions inside the mind of Riley, an 11-year-old girl navigating life’s ups and downs.
Disgust’s role is to protect Riley from things she finds gross or unacceptable, from physical sensations to social faux pas. This protective instinct often drives her to be critical or cautious, making her a blend of sassiness, strong opinions, and, of course, judgment.
Disgust was voiced by actress and comedian Mindy Kaling, who brought her unique comedic style and sharp wit to the role. Kaling’s voice performance made Disgust both humorous and relatable, capturing her sarcastic yet caring nature. Through Disgust, the film explores how every emotion, even the seemingly negative ones, plays a critical role in helping Riley understand her environment and navigate her relationships.
