Who is Envy?
Envy is another new character introduced in “Inside Out 2,” the sequel to Pixar’s acclaimed animated film “Inside Out.” In the first film, the narrative focuses on five core emotions—Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust—that reside in the mind of a young girl named Riley, guiding her through her experiences.
In “Inside Out 2,” Envy, voiced by Ayo Edebiri, joins the group of emotions inside Riley’s mind. As Riley enters adolescence, Envy represents the feelings of jealousy and desire that often arise during this developmental stage. This character embodies the comparisons Riley might make with her peers, whether regarding achievements, appearances, or social status. Envy’s presence highlights how these feelings, while challenging, are a natural part of growing up and can influence behavior and self-perception.
