Who is Flower?

Flower is the gentle and bashful skunk from Disney’s classic animated film Bambi. He’s a close friend to Bambi and Thumper, and he first appears early in the film when Bambi stumbles upon him in a meadow.

Despite being a skunk, Flower is surprisingly shy, sweet, and polite, with a personality as soft as his name. Flower’s demeanor brings warmth and innocence to the movie, especially during scenes where he playfully interacts with his friends, even letting Bambi “mistakenly” call him a flower—a name he embraces with charm. As the film progresses, Flower matures along with Bambi and Thumper, and by the end, he finds a mate of his own.

Flower was voiced by three actors across different stages of his life. As a young skunk, he was voiced by Stan Alexander, who captures Flower’s childlike charm. Tim Davis then voices him as a teenager, portraying Flower’s adolescent development. Finally, Sterling Holloway, a well-known voice actor in Disney’s early films, voices Flower as an adult. Holloway’s gentle tone gives depth to Flower’s mature personality. Holloway is particularly famous for voicing other Disney characters like Winnie the Pooh, giving him a lasting presence in Disney history.
