Who is Forky?
Forky is a quirky and lovable character introduced in Toy Story 4, known for his distinct identity as a “homemade” toy.
Crafted by Bonnie, the young girl who inherits the toys after Andy, Forky is created from a spork, pipe cleaners, and other arts and crafts materials. Bonnie’s imaginative efforts bring Forky to life, but he initially struggles with his new role as a toy. Unlike Woody, Buzz, and the others, who understand their purpose, Forky is bewildered and believes he’s “trash,” insisting he’s not a toy. This conflict drives much of the character’s humorous and endearing journey as he grapples with self-worth and finding his purpose in Bonnie’s life. Forky’s innocent, somewhat naïve outlook on life contrasts with the seasoned toy crew, making him a unique addition to the Toy Story family.
Comedian Tony Hale provides the voice for Forky, bringing a humorous and heartfelt performance to the role. Known for his roles as Buster Bluth in Arrested Development and Gary Walsh in Veep, Hale uses his comedic talents to capture Forky’s confusion, vulnerability, and journey toward understanding his value as a toy.
