Who is Friend Owl?
Friend Owl is a character from Disney’s 1942 animated classic Bambi. He serves as a wise, somewhat curmudgeonly figure who looks out for the forest creatures, particularly Bambi and his friends. Throughout the movie, Friend Owl offers advice and commentary, often with a humorous edge, particularly in scenes where he explains “twitterpation,” or the process of animals falling in love in the springtime.
In the original Bambi film, Friend Owl is voiced by actor Will Wright, who gave the character his gruff, but caring personality. Wright was a character actor known for his distinctive voice and had appeared in numerous films and television shows throughout his career. His portrayal of Friend Owl contributed to the character’s charm and endearing role as a mentor to the younger animals in the forest.
Friend Owl also appears in Bambi II (2006), where his role is expanded, and in this sequel, he is voiced by actor Keith Ferguson.
