Who is Fungus?

Fungus is a supporting character in Pixar’s Monsters, Inc., released in 2001. He is Randall Boggs’ assistant and plays a somewhat meek and subservient role in their partnership at Monsters, Inc., the power company that generates energy from children’s screams.

Unlike his intimidating and ambitious boss, Fungus is kind-hearted and timid, often unwillingly roped into Randall’s shady schemes to boost their scare quotas. He wears glasses, has a salmon-colored, multi-eyed face, and typically has a nervous expression, which reflects his skittish personality. Despite his loyalty to Randall, Fungus lacks the malice or drive of his partner, often showing concern about Randall’s unethical plans, especially when they involve the dangerous “Scream Extractor” machine.

In Monsters, Inc., Fungus is voiced by actor Frank Oz, who is well-known for his work as a puppeteer and voice artist for iconic characters, including Yoda in Star Wars and several Muppets like Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and Animal.
