Who is George Darling?

George Darling is a character in Disney’s animated classic Peter Pan, released in 1953. He is the father of Wendy, John, and Michael Darling and is portrayed as a somewhat stern and no-nonsense figure, often frustrated with his children’s fascination with Peter Pan and the “silliness” of Neverland.

George is a responsible, respectable man who is deeply committed to his family but struggles with balancing his fatherly duties and understanding the whimsical imaginations of his children. His personality contrasts with the enchanting and free-spirited nature of Neverland, which ultimately makes him seem more rigid and humorless. However, by the film’s end, George softens and appears more accepting of his children’s fantasies, recognizing the importance of imagination.

In the 1953 animated film, George Darling’s voice was provided by actor Hans Conried, who also voiced the character of Captain Hook.
