Who is Gilbert?
Gilbert is a character from the “Under Wraps” series, appearing in both the 1997 and 2021 film adaptations. The character of Gilbert is depicted as one of the three young friends who discover and accidentally revive an Egyptian mummy in a neighbor’s basement a few days before Halloween.
Together with his friends Marshall and Amy, they name the mummy Harold and embark on an adventure to return Harold to his resting place before midnight on Halloween. During their journey, they encounter a group of criminals intent on selling the mummy to the highest bidder. The trio must overcome their fears and band together to stand up to the criminals, rescuing their newfound but “ancient” friend.
In the 2021 version of “Under Wraps,” Gilbert is portrayed by actor Christian J. Simon. In the 1997 version, the character is portrayed by Adam Wylie, and there’s a scene where Gilbert humorously discusses his mom’s collection of antique dolls, showcasing a bit of his personal life outside the central adventure.
Gilbert, being part of the central trio of friends, plays a crucial role in the narrative of both films, contributing to the adventurous and humorous tone of the story while showcasing the theme of friendship and courage in the face of danger.
