Who is Gypsy?

Gypsy is a colorful, wise, and caring gypsy moth in Disney-Pixar’s A Bug’s Life. She is a part of the insect circus troupe that the main character, Flik, encounters during his quest to find warriors to help save his ant colony from the oppressive grasshoppers led by Hopper.

Despite her fragile appearance, Gypsy is resourceful and plays a key role in the troupe’s performances, often helping out her fellow performers when things go wrong. Her wings are adorned with vibrant purple, blue, and green colors that resemble a stained-glass pattern, giving her a mystical, ethereal look. This distinctive appearance aligns with her calm and nurturing personality, making her a beloved character among the circus bugs.

Gypsy is voiced by the late American actress Madeline Kahn, who brought her distinct vocal style and comedic talent to the role. Kahn was widely celebrated for her work in film and theater, especially known for her roles in comedies such as Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles.
