Who is Hank?
Hank is a character introduced in Disney-Pixar’s Finding Dory, the 2016 sequel to Finding Nemo. He’s an octopus—or more accurately, a “septopus” since he only has seven tentacles, having lost one before the events of the film.
Hank is initially portrayed as somewhat gruff and solitary, preferring to stay in his own controlled environment rather than risking the unknown. Despite his rough exterior, he’s highly intelligent, resourceful, and even has a soft side that he tries to keep hidden. His skill in camouflage allows him to blend into nearly any environment, making him an expert at navigating spaces unseen.
Hank’s relationship with Dory, the film’s protagonist, is complex. Though he’s reluctant to help her at first, Hank ultimately becomes a key figure in her journey to reunite with her family, learning to embrace a bit of adventure himself along the way.
Hank is voiced by actor Ed O’Neill, best known for his role as Jay Pritchett on Modern Family and as Al Bundy on Married… with Children.
