Set in the colorful world of arcade games, King Candy rules over the racing game Sugar Rush. He appears as a whimsical, eccentric character resembling a classic king with a penchant for flamboyant costumes and a syrupy-sweet, yet cunning, personality. However, behind his cheerful exterior lies a darker truth. As the story unfolds, it’s revealed that King Candy is actually the identity of Turbo, a rogue character from an old racing game called TurboTime. Obsessed with being the most popular character in the arcade, Turbo caused his game to be unplugged and later infiltrated Sugar Rush, hacking the game’s code to rewrite himself as King Candy and erasing the memories of the true ruler, Princess Vanellope.

King Candy is voiced by actor and comedian Alan Tudyk, known for his work in numerous animated films and series.
