Who is King of Hearts?

The King of Hearts is a fictional character from the 1865 novel “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll, and is featured in the animated Disney movie “Alice in Wonderland” (1951).

In the story, the King of Hearts is a timid and ineffectual monarch who is often overruled by his dominant and assertive wife, the Queen of Hearts. The King appears in several scenes throughout the story, including the famous trial scene where Alice is accused of stealing tarts. The King tries to act as a mediator between Alice and the Queen, but is constantly overruled by the Queen’s angry and tyrannical outbursts.

In the Disney movie, the King of Hearts is depicted as a short, rotund character with a very small crown on his head. He is often seen nervously wringing his hands or fidgeting with his clothes. The character is voiced by actor and comedian Dink Trout.
