Who is Kron?

Kron is a pivotal character in Disney’s Dinosaur (2000), a computer-animated film blending live-action backgrounds with digitally rendered creatures. He is a hardened Iguanodon who serves as the leader of the herd that protagonist Aladar and his companions join during their journey to reach the Nesting Grounds, a safe haven from the desolation caused by a catastrophic meteor strike.

Kron is characterized by his strict, survival-of-the-fittest philosophy, prioritizing strength and efficiency over compassion or cooperation. He sees no value in helping the weak or injured, which brings him into direct conflict with Aladar’s more empathetic and inclusive approach. This ideological clash fuels much of the film’s tension, highlighting themes of leadership, community, and survival. Kron’s stern, often aggressive demeanor ultimately leads to his downfall, as his refusal to adapt and cooperate proves fatal during a confrontation with a Carnotaurus.

The character of Kron is voiced by Samuel E. Wright, a versatile actor and singer best known for voicing Sebastian in Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
