Serving as a spiritual guide, Mama Odie helps the protagonists, Tiana and Prince Naveen, on their journey to break the curse that turned them into frogs. Her home, a vibrant and magical tree filled with colorful trinkets and inhabited by her pet snake Juju, reflects her quirky and benevolent nature.

Mama Odie exudes warmth and humor while imparting profound wisdom about life, love, and self-discovery. Her iconic song, “Dig a Little Deeper,” encourages Tiana to focus on what truly matters, such as her dreams and heart’s desires, rather than materialistic ambitions. As a spiritual foil to the film’s villain, Dr. Facilier, Mama Odie represents goodness, tradition, and the uplifting power of faith and perseverance.

The character is voiced by Jenifer Lewis, a celebrated actress and singer known for her commanding presence and vocal talents.
