Margaret “Maggie” McKendrick is a character from Disney’s original 1961 film “The Parent Trap,” as well as the 1998 remake of the same name. The character is portrayed by actress Maureen O’Hara in the original and by Natasha Richardson in the 1998 remake. The story revolves around twin sisters who are separated at birth and reunite at a summer camp, ultimately plotting to reunite their long-lost parents.
In both versions of the film, Margaret “Maggie” McKendrick is the mother of the twin girls, Susan and Sharon. She is a refined and elegant woman who has raised one of her daughters in Boston, while her ex-husband, Mitch Evers, has raised the other in California. Maggie is initially unaware of her daughter’s existence due to a misunderstanding and separation that occurred after the twins were born.
