In both versions of the film, Margaret “Maggie” McKendrick is the mother of the twin girls, Susan and Sharon. She is a refined and elegant woman who has raised one of her daughters in Boston, while her ex-husband, Mitch Evers, has raised the other in California. Maggie is initially unaware of her daughter’s existence due to a misunderstanding and separation that occurred after the twins were born.
