Who is Mary?
Mary is a minor character in Disney-Pixar’s animated film “WALL-E,” which was released in 2008. She is one of the Axiom’s passengers and plays a small but memorable role in the movie.
In the film, Mary is a rotund woman who, like the other passengers on the Axiom, has spent centuries living a sedentary life aboard the spaceship. She is initially seen as one of the many passengers who have become obese due to their reliance on automated systems for all their needs and a lack of physical activity.
As the story progresses and the Axiom’s passengers start to awaken from their complacency, Mary experiences a transformation. She begins to question the monotonous and automated lifestyle they’ve been living and takes steps to regain her mobility and health.
Mary’s character serves as a symbol of the potential for change and awakening even in the most stagnant and routine environments. Her decision to become more active and engaged in life’s experiences is a small but significant part of the broader theme of environmental consciousness and individual responsibility explored in “WALL-E.”
