Who is Mother Gothel?
Mother Gothel is a fictional character from Disney’s animated film “Tangled” (2010). She is the main antagonist of the story and is voiced by actress Donna Murphy. Mother Gothel is an evil, manipulative and power-hungry woman who kidnaps Rapunzel, a princess with long magical golden hair, when she is an infant and raises her as her own daughter in a hidden tower. She uses Rapunzel’s hair as a source of eternal youth and beauty and keeps her locked up in the tower to maintain her own power. She is very possessive and controlling of Rapunzel, and will do anything to keep her away from the outside world and the people who could reveal her true identity. As Rapunzel grows up, she starts to question Gothel’s intentions, and eventually escapes with the help of a thief named Flynn.
