Who is Needleman and Smitty?

Needleman and Smitty are two of the most humorous and endearing side characters in Disney-Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. Released in 2001, the film takes viewers into the bustling world of Monstropolis, where monsters generate power by scaring human children. Needleman and Smitty work as janitors at the titular Monsters, Inc. factory, adding a comedic touch to the film with their bumbling personalities and loyal friendship.

The duo is responsible for cleaning up the facility and often finds themselves in ridiculous situations. They are particularly fond of idolizing Roz, the no-nonsense administrator of the Scare Floor, which adds to their comedic charm. Despite their simple-mindedness, their enthusiasm and camaraderie make them memorable.

Both Needleman and Smitty are voiced by Monsters, Inc. director Pete Docter, a creative force behind many Pixar classics.
