Who is Nutsy the Vulture?
Nutsy the Vulture is a minor but memorable character from Disney’s 1973 animated film Robin Hood. He serves as one of the clumsy henchmen of the film’s primary antagonist, Prince John. Nutsy works alongside Trigger, another vulture, as part of the sheriff of Nottingham’s enforcers. Together, they are tasked with guarding the imprisoned citizens of Nottingham and carrying out Prince John’s oppressive orders. Their antics, bumbling incompetence, and humorous banter provide comic relief throughout the film, contrasting with the more serious themes of tyranny and heroism.
Nutsy is characterized by his simple-mindedness, loyalty to his superiors, and lack of awareness of his own ineptitude. He often finds himself involved in ridiculous situations, including a comical misunderstanding about guarding Prince John’s gold. Despite his villainous alignment, Nutsy’s goofy demeanor makes him more endearing than threatening.
Nutsy was voiced by Ken Curtis, a talented actor and singer best known for his role as Festus Haggen on the long-running television series Gunsmoke.
