Who is Paul Rawlins?
Paul Rawlins is a charming and central character from Disney’s 1971 film Bedknobs and Broomsticks, based on the books by Mary Norton.
Paul is the youngest of the three Rawlins children, who are evacuated from London during World War II and taken to the coastal village of Pepperinge Eye for safety. Alongside his siblings, Charlie and Carrie, Paul is placed under the care of the eccentric Miss Eglantine Price, an apprentice witch.
Paul is notable for his sweet and trusting nature, often serving as the heart of the group. His key role in the story revolves around the magical bedknob, which he entrusts with a magical spell. This enchanted bedknob allows the group to embark on incredible adventures, including a visit to the underwater city of Naboombu. Paul’s imagination and belief in magic make him a critical figure in helping Miss Price achieve her goal of finding the magical spells to aid the war effort.
The character of Paul Rawlins was portrayed by child actor Roy Snart.
